After our wedding, we dove straight into our new life together! Literally the day after getting married, we packed up Julia’s apartment and moved everything up to Austin! In August, she began teaching in Pflugerville as Grady continued in his job at UT.
“But what about your honeymoon?” you might say. Well, we had to wait a few months to get the honeymoon we wanted… a ski vacation in Lake Tahoe!

We got tired of apartment life pretty quickly, so in early 2014 we began looking for a house… and we found one! In fact, we celebrated our one-year (paper) anniversary with tons of closing paperwork and moved into our new home in early August.
We really, really love our house. So much so that we haven’t stopped making it ours with purchase after purchase and project after project. We even made a whole page dedicated to those things!
Along the way we also both had some slight changes to our respective jobs. Julia moved on from teaching in Pflugerville after one year and became a Dragon at Round Rock High School. Grady has continued to work at ICES at UT, but has become the Mac Systems Administrator for the department.
Our new house also brought us more time with friends! It just so happened that our friends Karen and Evan live just a few minutes from our new home.
Now we see them (and their dog Kya) all the time!
No. Really.
All the time. It’s probably unhealthy.
But we have fun so who cares!
Part of that fun involves Julia’s side-job as a Geeks Who Drink quizmaster! She actually started with GWD back in Houston, but she’s continued after moving to Austin and now hosts two quizzes every week!
We love trivia so much that we even went to Geek Bowl all the way in Albuquerque in early 2015!
That’s pretty much it for our story since the wedding. Lots of fun with friends, a new house and all the fun that goes with it, and just loving our life!
So I guess it’s time to start a new chapter?
